A speed camera caught nearly 25,000 offenders within a week of being installed.

More than a quarter of drivers travelling down the A46 in Rodborough, Stroud, were warned about their speed in the seven days after the new camera was erected on February 19.

One motorist was caught driving at 64mph – more than double the 30mph speed limit – while 42 other vehicles were filmed doing more than 50mph.

Police confirmed around 24,962 drivers were warned about their speed out of the 94,912 that passed the automatic number plate recognition camera in its first week.
